The Duston Parish Council is made up of 12 elected members (6 representing Old Duston and 6 New Duston). They are all volunteers who all have an interest in improving the quality of life for all residents of the Parish.

The councillors do not act in a politically motivated way.

The Clerk to the Council and the Assistant Parish Clerk are paid employees and are based at the Parish office

The office of the Parish Council is located at Duston Community Centre, Pendle Road, Duston, Northampton NN5 6DT and is open to the public during the following times:

Every Parish Council is required to adopt a Code of Conduct that sets out rules governing the behaviour of its members. The Code of Conduct covers areas of individual behaviour such as members not abusing their position or not misusing their authority's resources.

In addition, there are Standing Orders including rules governing conduct of debates, disclosure of interest and withdrawal from meetings where members have relevant interests. Members are also required to record their financial and other interests.

The Parish Council meets monthly on first Thursday of each month except August at Duston Community Centre at 7.30pm. Local residents are invited to attend and there will be an opportunity to address the meeting and/or ask questions from 7.30-7.45pm.

The Parish Council Planning Committee meets monthly on the second Monday of each month at Duston Community Centre at 7.30pm.. Members of the public are most welcome to attend as observers.

The Parish Council has the power to comment in detail on planning applications within the Parish and for its comments to be taken into account by the Planning Authority.
